Starting this year, three-stage competitions in modern disciplines such as esports, drone operations, and robotic technologies will be organized among military personnel in Uzbekistan. This was announced today, January 13, during an expanded meeting of the Security Council chaired by President of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Shavkat Mirziyoyev, focused on strengthening the country’s military security and defense.
It was noted that training highly qualified specialists in engineering and technical fields, cybersecurity, and countering information attacks remains one of the most important tasks. In this regard, the need to strengthen the military-scientific base in engineering and technical areas and to establish military technoparks at the local level was emphasized.
Alongside strengthening combat readiness, the modern era also requires the continuous enrichment of the moral and intellectual development of military personnel. Reading plays an important role in this process. Therefore, this year all military units and institutions will be supplied with a total of 1 million copies of fiction literature.
A reading competition for the Supreme Commander-in-Chief’s Prize will be launched among students of military-oriented school-lyceums within the Armed Forces system, conscripted soldiers, cadets, sergeants, and officers. Winners and prize recipients at district, command, ministry, and Supreme Commander-in-Chief-level competitions will have their mandatory military service shortened by one month.
Each year, more than 10 traditional sports competitions, including military pentathlon, hand-to-hand combat, and weightlifting, are held among military personnel. From this year onward, three-stage competitions in modern sports such as esports, drone operations, and robotic technologies will also be introduced.
