In Uzbekistan, drivers of electric vehicles are prohibited from traveling at speeds exceeding 10 kilometers per hour on sidewalks designated for pedestrians. This regulation is detailed in the Cabinet of Ministers' decision to amend certain regulations aimed at enhancing traffic safety on roads, adopted on July 17.

The decision mandates that operators of personal electric vehicles (such as scooters, skateboards, segways, unicycles, and similar vehicles) must adhere to traffic regulations. They are permitted to traverse sidewalks, pedestrian paths, and bicycle lanes at speeds not exceeding 10 kilometers per hour. In the absence of such dedicated lanes, they should travel alongside roadways at speeds not exceeding 20 kilometers per hour.

Furthermore, operators of these vehicles must yield to other road users when exiting residential areas and must strictly follow designated pathways. Pedestrians hold priority over operators of personal electric vehicles in all circumstances where their movements overlap.

Additionally, the decision prohibits the operation of electric vehicles on main roadways, alongside roads, or on road shoulders when separate lanes for cyclists or pedestrian and bicycle paths are available. It is also forbidden to transport passengers or goods that exceed 0.5 meters in length or width, or that impede safe steering.

According to the decision, individuals under the age of 14 are prohibited from operating electric vehicles. Exceptions apply to residential areas, parks, zoos, playgrounds, recreational areas, and enclosed spaces.

It is worth noting that earlier reports indicated that administrative penalties would be enforced for infractions committed on scooters and mopeds.
