Individuals posing as SSS officers arrested

The State Security Service (SSS) has reported the detention of individuals who fraudulently promised employment at the SSS in the Kashkadarya and Samarkand regions.

According to the report, a man born in 1988 and residing in the Koson district of Kashkadarya region, previously convicted of fraud, engaged in criminal activity once again. Posing as an SSS officer, he promised to secure a job at the agency for a resident born in 1997. From September 2024 to June 2025, under various pretexts, he deceived the victim and collected a total of $30,000 and 510 million soums.

Additionally, the fraudster demanded $10,000 from the victim’s relative in exchange for admission to the Armed Forces Academy. He had already received $4,000 and was caught during an operation in Qarshi city while accepting another $2,000 from the agreed amount. A criminal case has been opened against him under Article 168, part 4(a), and Articles 28 and 211, part 2 (a) of the Criminal Code. He has been placed in pre-trial detention.

Furthermore, in the Pastdargom district of the Samarkand region, a man born in 1961 was detained by the SSS and the regional police while taking $7,000 in exchange for allegedly securing employment for another individual at the SSS. A criminal case has been initiated against him under Articles 25 and 168, part 2 (a) of the Criminal Code, and investigative procedures are ongoing.
