The Chairman of the State Security Service of Uzbekistan, Bakhodir Nizamovich Kurbanov, has been nominated for the President of the Football Association of Uzbekistan (UFA) position. This was reported on February 12, by the UFA press service.

According to the Charter of the Football Association of Uzbekistan, the elections for the UFA presidency will take place on February 22 of this year. On January 20, the UFA called on its members to submit their candidate proposals for the role. The UFA Election Committee reviewed the nominations submitted via the official UFA email by the Charter and Election Code. Following Article 30 of the UFA Charter, the list of candidates was presented to the UFA Secretariat 30 days before the Congress.

As Article 33 of the UFA Charter outlines, members must be informed of the venue and agenda of the extraordinary election Congress at least 10 days before the event. Accordingly, the Congress's location and agenda are set to be communicated to all members on February 12, 2025.

Additionally, Article 11 of the UFA Election Code mandates that the official list of candidates be published in the press. Following this procedure, UFA members nominated Bakhodir Nizamovich Kurbanov for the position of President of the Football Association of Uzbekistan.

It is worth noting that on January 21, Abdusalom Azizov was dismissed as President of the UFA, and his responsibilities were temporarily assigned to Ravshan Irmatov, the First Vice-President of the UFA.
