The Fergana Regional Customs Department has reported that illegal circulation of jewelry valued at 1.44 billion soums has been prevented.

According to the report, during an operation in the Oltiariq district, officers stopped a Damas vehicle moving along the pre-monitored “Vodil–Oltiariq” route. The vehicle was inspected in accordance with established procedures.

As a result, three packages containing foreign-made jewelry were discovered inside the vehicle cabin. The items belonged to a passenger and were being transported without any customs clearance documents. Further examination revealed 127 pieces of jewelry of five types, weighing a total of 1,332 grams, with a preliminary value of 1.44 billion soums.

"The case is currently under pre-investigation review," the report stated.

It is worth noting that earlier, individuals attempting to bring 5.7 billion soums worth of jewelry into Uzbekistan had also been detained.
