Those who brought jewelry worth 5.7 billion soums to Uzbekistan detained

Jewelry worth 5.7 billion soums illegally imported from Kyrgyzstan into Uzbekistan has been seized. This was reported by the State Security Service.

During the operation, it was revealed that a citizen born in 1987, a resident of Fergana district, received a large amount of jewelry illegally transferred from a Kyrgyz citizen through roundabout routes across the Uzbek-Kyrgyz border.

The two were detained while delivering the jewelry to another individual, a resident of Jalakuduk district of Andijan region, who was waiting for them in Fergana city in exchange for material benefits.

The total weight of the seized gold jewelry was 5 kilograms 706 grams, with an initial estimated value of 5 billion 746 million soums.

A pre-trial investigation has been launched against those involved.

It is worth noting that earlier, two people were detained for illegally transporting more than 19 kilograms of gold from Kyrgyzstan into Uzbekistan.
