It is reported that the military tried to steal cash from an ATM in Chirchik.  The Ministry of Defense commented on the situation

Reports on the attempted theft of cash from ATMs by three military servicemen in Chirchik town has spread on social networks.  The press secretary of the Ministry of Defense reacted to these reports.

It is noted that the category of military personnel includes persons serving in the departments of the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the National Guard, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the State Security Service, and State security agencies, the Office of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan and other interested ministries and departments.

The detained servicemen have nothing to do with the Ministry of Defense, they were members of the Guards Forces of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

“In view of the above, it is advisable to disseminate the information on the basis of clear facts before distributing it on social networks after it has been established which ministry or department representatives are military personnel.  Information disseminated in general may harm the honor of servicemen of all ministries and departments”, - the statement of the Ministry says.
