Bus driver who caused the death of students in Bukhara was arrested

7092In March of this year, a road traffic accident involving a bus carrying schoolchildren and a truck took place in Bukhara, leading to the death of one person. Shortly after, the number of victims increased by one more. The bus driver has now been sentenced to 9 years in prison, according to Aziz Obidov, the press secretary of the Supreme Court.
At a court session held in the Kogon city court on criminal cases related to the traffic accident, the driver was found guilty of the crime provided for in Article 266 of the Criminal Code (Violation of the safety rules of the movement or use of vehicles), Part 3, Clause "a", and was sentenced to 9 years in prison, along with a 3-year ban from driving all types of vehicles.
"I sincerely regret what I did. Forgive me," said the defendant.
The accident occurred on March 18 this year at approximately 10:30 a.m. at the intersection of the 32nd kilometer of the A-380b highway and the 6th kilometer of the 4R-69 highway in Kogon district, Bukhara region. The collision involved a bus driven by a 1991-born driver, O.Sh., and a truck driven by a 1984-born driver, M.M.
Following the incident, the Bukhara Regional Internal Affairs Investigative Body initiated a criminal case under Article 266 of the Criminal Code and launched an investigation.
Moreover, an investigation by the Bukhara regional prosecutor’s office revealed that some officials had committed serious legal violations in organizing the transportation and escort of schoolchildren by bus. Consequently, a criminal case was initiated under Article 207 of the Criminal Code (Negligence in the performance of duties).
