5506In Bukhara, individuals attempting to sell a pure gold bar for $11,000 were arrested. This was reported by the Department for Combating Economic Crimes under the Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
It was noted that during a joint operation conducted by the Shofirkon District Department of the Prosecutor General's Office and the State Security Service, citizens I.I. and S.A. were caught red-handed while selling a 154.3-gram pure gold bar to citizens N.B. and U.M. for $11,000, with the transaction being seized as physical evidence.
"Regarding this incident, a criminal case has been initiated under Article 177 of the Criminal Code (illegal acquisition or transfer of currency valuables), and investigative actions are being carried out," the report said.
It should be noted that earlier, individuals attempting to smuggle 1.4 kg of gold out of Uzbekistan were arrested.
