Yesterday, on April 27, we reported the tragic suicide of a first-year student residing in the newly built dormitory of Bukhara State Technical University, who took his own life by hanging. Today, on April 28, another student from the same university tragically followed suit. This incident was confirmed by a source from QALAMPIR.UZ.

The second victim, identified as 2nd-year student F.D., also took his life by hanging in the student dormitory. Currently, students are prohibited from leaving the premises. It has been reported that the dormitory was constructed on top of a cemetery. One student who reached out to the editorial office expressed concerns over the mental health impact these repeated tragedies are having on the student body. They described waking up every day in fear.

"This is affecting our morale in a very negative way. Can't the authorities intervene to study the situation and prevent such heartbreaking events? It’s crucial that we talk to every student and assess their mental state," the concerned student said.

In response to the crisis, QALAMPIR.UZ reported that the university is taking steps to address the situation. Special work is underway with students to better understand and improve their psychological well-being.

“Psychologists are holding individual and group counseling sessions to help relieve stress and improve students' mental health. Additionally, meetings with healthcare professionals are being organized to ensure students' physical and mental well-being. Doctors are providing guidance on health care and stress management,” an official from the university said.

The Press Secretary of the Prosecutor General's Office, Hayot Shamsutdinov, provided further details. According to him, the second suicide occurred around 06:20 on April 28, when F.D., a 2nd-year student born in 2005, climbed to the roof of the gym at the academic lyceum of Bukhara State Technical University and hanged himself.

The Bukhara City Prosecutor's Office is currently conducting a pre-investigation into the incident.

It was also revealed that the deceased had posted messages about his intent to commit suicide on his Instagram account on three separate occasions between April 27 and 28, 2025.

This is the second such tragedy at the university. On December 6 of last year, a 23-year-old student from Bukhara Engineering Institute (now Bukhara State Technical University) committed suicide by drinking vinegar in the institution's dormitory.
