Bukhara farmer detained while accepting bribe for illegal land sale

A farm manager was caught in the Bukhara region trying to sell 16.9 hectares of land on the farm's balance sheet for $56,000. The regional Department of Internal Affairs reported this.

It is noted that the farm manager deceived a group of citizens, claiming that he would sell a total of 16.9 hectares of land on the balance sheet of a farm operating in the Talalyon mahalla of Bukhara district, which was given under a 49-year lease agreement for the organization of a livestock farm by the decision of the district mayor in 2017, and promised to register this land in his name through a notary and demanded $56,000.

On April 9 of this year, during an operational operation conducted by the Department for Combating Corruption and Economic Crimes of the Criminal Investigation Department of the regional Internal Affairs Department, this person was detained while receiving $16,000 of the requested money.

It is reported that a criminal case has been initiated under Part 4 of Article 168 (fraud) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and a preliminary investigation is currently underway.
