Doctor was caught with a bribe in Bukhara

6722A medical worker at the Central Polyclinic in Shofirkon District, Bukhara Region, was arrested after promising a citizen a lifetime disability pension. This was reported by the National Social Protection Agency’s information service.
To prevent further illegal activity, the social inspectorate, in collaboration with the Department of Combating Economic Crimes in Bukhara, organized a swift operation.
In 2023, a citizen with a six-month, second-group disability designation went to the Central Polyclinic of the Shofirkon District Medical Association for a reassessment. During this visit, a doctor reportedly demanded a bribe of $700, offering a permanent disability pension in return.
On October 16, 2024, the doctor was arrested at his workplace while accepting a bribe of 2.5 million soums. An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
Previously in the Bukhara region, a cadastral engineer was also arrested for promising to secure a building permit for a businessman. A criminal case was filed against him under Articles 25 and 168 (fraud) and 28 and 211 (bribery) of the Criminal Code, with an investigation currently underway.
