An Indian student has passed away in Bukhara

Nawas Nasmel, a 20-year-old Indian student enrolled at the Bukhara State Medical Institute named after Abu Ali Ibn Sina, has tragically died. This information was relayed by the institute's information service.

Preliminary reports indicate that on February 28, 2023, Navas Nasmel, a second-year student at the institute, became ill in his dormitory room, prompting a call for emergency medical assistance.

He was promptly transported to the Bukhara Region Hospital for Infectious Diseases. Despite receiving necessary medical attention and treatment, Navas Nasmel, a citizen of the Republic of India, succumbed to his illness.

As per initial findings provided by the Bukhara branch of the Republican Forensic Medical Expertise Scientific and Practical Center, the cause of death was acute respiratory failure resulting from bilateral total pneumonia.

The institute's administration has notified both the Embassy of India in Uzbekistan and the student's relatives.

Hayat Shamsutdinov, the press secretary of the Prosecutor General's Office, stated that the Bukhara City Prosecutor's Office is currently conducting an investigation into the incident.
