Messages have circulated on social media claiming that university tuition fees in Uzbekistan will increase this year. Qalampir.uz contacted Nazokat Abduqunduzova, the press secretary of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and innovations.

It is stated that no decision has been made so far regarding the rise in tuition fees at public universities for the academic year of 2025-2026, meaning that there will be no rise in tuition fees.

It is also worth noting that tuition fees per student were reportedly raised by 15 percent at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy from the academic year of 2025-2026. Commenting on the rise, Abduqunduzova stated that since the UWED is a financially independent university, it sets the contract fee independently. There are more than 40 financially independent universities in Uzbekistan.

Furthermore, according to the unverified reports, applicants will be informed about the opportunity to choose the sixth specialization within the next 1–2 days. University rectors are said to soon receive the power to determine tiered tuition fees, which could also affect the amount of super-contract fees
