Earlier, videos circulated online allegedly showing Russian athlete and former heavyweight world champion Nikolai Valuev stating that Russia had pursued a “soft policy” toward former Soviet republics for 30 years and that tougher measures should now be taken against them. The athlete has stated that the video was created using artificial intelligence.
According to Valuev, the video was entirely manipulated from beginning to end and disseminated online with the aim of inciting hatred.
“This incident is related to artificial intelligence. The point is that some people used it to distort words that were allegedly said, or even worse, to create everything from start to finish. What is the purpose? Very simple. Today, everyone knows that the internet is not only a source of useful information, but also a source of danger. Information presented in video format is always designed to convince the viewer and listener. This is where artificial intelligence becomes a very convenient tool. Today, films can be produced without the participation of people using technology — this has already been done. The only difference is that such technology is now available to the general public,” the athlete said.
He added that artificial intelligence-based technologies are now being used by everyone, which is leading to an increase in false information on the internet.
“Today, such technologies are being used even by entire states and are constantly being improved. Therefore, one should not believe information easily. It is better to carefully consider, understand, and only then share information circulating on the internet. Never trust unreliable sources,” Valuev said.
It is worth noting that earlier, in response to Valuev’s alleged threats, former Uzbek professional boxer Ruslan Chagaev issued a statement. According to Chagaev, if one fight is needed to “set Valuev straight,” he is ready for it.
