Uzbekistan to strengthen the “Sergeant major corps”

The activities of the “Sergeant Major Corps”, the pillar of the army, will be improved. The relevant tasks in this regard were given on February 21, at a meeting of the Security Council on strengthening the state’s military security and defense, chaired by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

The meeting identified such important tasks as:

• Improving the activities of the “Sergeant Major Corps”;
• Further developing the defense industry;
• Providing social support to military personnel and their families;
• Educating young people in a patriotic spirit and encouraging them to participate in military sports.

It was also noted that the national army is being provided with modern weapons and equipment and that the combat and moral training of military personnel has significantly increased. Based on global military experience and analysis, new combat units have been created to prevent and eliminate internal and external threats, and the composition of the troops has been optimized.

It was noted that the modernization of the army and defense industry has been further developed, with additional military enterprises established. Uzbekistan’s Armed Forces have also expanded bilateral military cooperation with more than 20 countries, achieving high performance in over 400 joint exercises.
