6224A special deputy of the Prosecutor General, responsible for monitoring compliance with poverty alleviation laws, has been appointed. This announcement was made today, September 11, during a video conference on measures to reduce poverty in neighborhoods and improve the system for assisting poor families, chaired by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
The newly appointed deputy will visit at least one district every week to examine the accuracy of the inclusion and exclusion of poor families from the register and ensure that funds allocated to these families are delivered to their intended recipients.
Additionally, a commission focused on poverty reduction has been established under the leadership of the Deputy Prime Minister. The director of the Social Protection Agency will serve as the deputy head of the commission.
"The daily work of leaders at all levels, from the government to district organizations, will now focus on lifting families out of poverty," said the President.
Provincial and district commissions are headed by mayors. The commission reviews the progress of one district in each region and evaluates the activities of the assigned leaders. It addresses issues raised in the field immediately and submits monthly reports to the President on the implementation of poverty reduction plans. Furthermore, nine economic research centers and universities will tackle poverty reduction using scientific approaches.
It should be noted that earlier reports indicated that by the end of 2023, poverty reduction by 11% was achieved, benefiting 3.5 million people in Uzbekistan.
