New ranks conferred on the Prosecutor General, Defense and Interior ministers

With the relevant decrees of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, new ranks have been conferred on the Prosecutor General, as well as the Ministers of Defense and Internal Affairs, the President’s press secretary, Sherzod Asadov, reported.

Nigmatilla Yuldashev, Prosecutor General of the Republic of Uzbekistan, was awarded the special rank of State Justice Counselor of the 2nd class. He has been serving as Prosecutor General since 2019. According to the legislation of Uzbekistan, the term of office of the Prosecutor General is five years. As Yuldashev’s term expired in 2024, the issue of his position was reviewed in the Senate, and he was reappointed to the post.

Nigmatilla Yuldashev was born on November 5, 1962, in Tashkent. He graduated from the Faculty of Law at Tashkent State University. Throughout his career, he has served as an investigator at the prosecutor's office, head of a department at the General Prosecutor’s Office, leading inspector on the activities of prosecutorial bodies in the Presidential Administration for Coordination of Law Enforcement and Oversight Agencies, Deputy Prosecutor General, Minister of Justice, and Chairman of the Senate. On September 2, 2016, following the death of the First President of Uzbekistan, Islam Karimov, he was appointed Acting President of Uzbekistan by a joint decision of the chambers of the Oliy Majlis in accordance with the Constitution. On September 8, 2016, he announced the transfer of the responsibility for performing presidential duties to Prime Minister Shavkat Mirziyoyev. On June 20, 2019, Nigmatilla Yuldashev was appointed Prosecutor General of Uzbekistan by decree of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

Uzbekistan’s Minister of Defense, Shukhrat Gayratjanovich Khalmukhamedov, has been awarded the military rank of lieutenant general. He has held this position since November last year. On March 23, 2021, by presidential decree, Khalmukhamedov was granted the rank of major general. He previously served as Deputy Minister of Defense, Deputy Secretary of the Security Council under the President of Uzbekistan, and Deputy Minister for Emergency Situations. In 2016, he was decorated with the medal “For Faithful Service.”

The Minister of Internal Affairs of Uzbekistan, Aziz Anvarovich Toshpulatov, has also been awarded the special rank of lieutenant general. He has served as minister since March of this year, before which he headed the Tashkent City Main Department of Internal Affairs.
