3858Two venomous Central Asian cobras, intended for a performance for children at State Preschool Educational Institution No. 7 in Piskent district, Tashkent region, were seized and transferred to the Tashkent Zoo. This was reported by the Ministry of Ecology.
The authorities have gathered the necessary documentation, and the case has been referred to the judicial authorities for a legal assessment and appropriate action.
For context, the Cabinet of Ministers' resolution “On Measures to Improve the Procedure for Keeping Wild Animals” prohibits individuals from keeping wild animals in semi-free conditions, artificial habitats, or captivity, as well as using them in circus performances. This regulation is reinforced by Article 43 of the Law “On the Protection of Wildlife.”
It is also worth noting that on January 16 of this year, H.A., an employee of the “Tashkent” amateur circus team under the private enterprise “Kumush Diyor” from Almalyk, submitted a letter and a program to the district Department of Preschool and School Education to showcase circus performances at local educational institutions. The authorities granted approval for these performances, which did not include the use of animals. However, H.A. proceeded to stage a performance featuring dangerous creatures, endangering the lives and health of children at a kindergarten in Piskent district.
