20266Due to its geopolitical location, Central Asia is fully experiencing all the negative consequences of the global crisis of confidence and the escalation of conflicts. President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev spoke about this today, August 9, at the Sixth Consultative Meeting of Central Asian Leaders in Astana.
"The events happening around Ukraine and in the Middle East have a direct impact on the sustainable development of our region. Traditional trade and transport chains have been disrupted. We have become prisoners of the sanctions policy, logistics costs have significantly increased, and inflationary pressure is rising. Opportunities in the global capital market are shrinking, protectionism is increasing, and new obstacles are emerging," said Mirziyoyev.
He noted that issues related to the situation in neighboring Afghanistan, which is considered crucial for the region's stability, have taken a backseat on the international agenda.
"I would like to emphasize that the present and future of Central Asia, as well as the well-being of our countries and peoples, depend largely on our joint efforts, our readiness to cooperate closely, take decisive measures, and promote the region's interests together," he added.
According to the president, it is necessary to develop a strategic document — a concept for ensuring regional security and stability through the efforts of foreign policy agencies.
