Almost 40 billion sums in electricity and gas stolen last week

The illegal use of energy resources caused damage totaling 37.9 billion sums last week, according to a report by the Inspectorate for Supervision of the Use of Electricity, Oil Products, and Gas.

During control measures conducted jointly by "Uzenergoinspektsiya", law enforcement agencies, and specialists from electricity and gas supply enterprises, 92 cases of unauthorized use of energy resources were uncovered.

Specifically, the theft of 15.6 million kilowatt-hours of electricity resulted in losses of 32.4 billion sums, while 1.8 million cubic meters of stolen natural gas amounted to 5.4 billion sums in damages. In total, the recalculated losses stood at 37.921 billion sums.

The inspectorate registered 126 administrative cases related to violations of energy usage regulations. Measures were taken against the offenders in accordance with legal procedures, and all relevant materials were submitted to law enforcement agencies for further investigation.

For context, earlier reports indicated that 339 instances of energy resource loss and 547 cases of looting, worth a combined 3.4 billion sums, were recorded in a single day. As a result, 12 individuals faced administrative and disciplinary actions, and four criminal cases were initiated.
