Gasoline and propane prices rise

On January 27, the exchange price of liquefied gas in Uzbekistan surged by 9.7% in just one day, nearing 7.6 million sums per ton, according to the Commodity Exchange. 

Compared to January 6 of this year, the price of propane increased by 22.7%, with a sales volume of 1,463 tons. The price of AI-80 gasoline also saw a slight rise of 1.6% in a single day, reaching 9.34 million sums per ton, staying near the price limit set by the Committee for the Development of Competition and Consumer Rights Protection on November 13. However, during yesterday's trading, the volume of gasoline sales halved, dropping from 4,000 tons to 2.21 thousand tons. Notably, January 17 saw an absolute record for gasoline sales, exceeding 14.1 thousand tons.

Additionally, the exchange price of AI-92 gasoline rose by 3.5% in one day, reaching 12.72 million sums per ton. The volume of fuel sold, however, dropped significantly compared to the previous day, totaling just 308.4 tons.

It is important to note that Kazakhstan has announced plans to phase out gasoline price regulations. The country's Ministry of Energy intends to gradually remove fuel price controls to eliminate price disparities with neighboring countries and reduce the risk of illegal exports. Kazakhstan has the lowest fuel prices among its neighbors, which often leads to illegal exports and domestic shortages. For example, one liter of AI-92 gasoline costs 205 tenge in Kazakhstan, 288 tenge in Russia, 385 tenge in Kyrgyzstan, and 489 tenge (11,956 sums) in Uzbekistan. Diesel fuel is similarly cheaper in Kazakhstan, at 295 tenge compared to 355 tenge in Russia, 427 tenge in Kyrgyzstan, and 528 tenge (12,909 sums) in Uzbekistan.
