He emphasized the importance of preserving the substantial potential for multilateral cooperation that has been developed over the years within the UN and other international organizations.
"We firmly believe that the UN should continue to play a central role in solving the global problems of the 21st century," Saidov concluded.
National Actions and Achievements
He also stressed that addressing global issues at the national level is crucial for ensuring a country’s stability and the welfare of its citizens.
"The consistent implementation of sustainable development goals has been identified by our leadership as the foundation of Uzbekistan's state policy," the minister noted.
According to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Uzbekistan has made considerable advancements in recent years in several key areas, including alleviating poverty, expanding educational opportunities for its citizens, moving towards a "green economy", and advancing gender equality.
"Our gross domestic product has more than doubled, and the poverty rate has decreased to 11 percent," Saidov emphasized, highlighting the nation’s achievements.
Gender Equality Progress
Saidov reported that Uzbekistan has made strides in gender equality, ranking among the top five countries in this regard.
"Enhancing women's rights and opportunities is a primary focus of government policy," he stated.
Regional Cooperation
He stated that the region is currently focused on linking to major global markets and rejuvenating the Great Silk Road.
"Central Asia is a key priority in Uzbekistan's foreign policy," the minister remarked.
Afghanistan's Role in Central Asia
"Regrettably, the international community has not taken effective actions to improve the challenging situation in Afghanistan," the Minister of Foreign Affairs noted.
He indicated that Uzbekistan is pursuing a "pragmatic policy" concerning its neighboring country.
"We will persist in our efforts to aid Afghanistan’s economic recovery and the enhancement of its transport and energy infrastructure," Saidov affirmed.
