Bahadir Jalolov, a professional boxer from Uzbekistan, champion of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, compared Uzbek and Kazakh boxing.  The athlete also explained why Kazakhstan surpassed Uzbekistan in the new IBA ranking.

“Uzbekistan ranks first in the world in amateur boxing.  The Asian Championship held in Thailand also became the Uzbekistan Championship.  Our boxers won 9 gold medals in 10 weights.  This has never happened in history.  However, Kazakhstan won more medals than us in the last World Cup, it is possible that they took a higher place than Uzbekistan in the ranking, because the results of Kazakhstan’s girls in the World Cup were also taken into account when compiling the ranking.  In general, we have been superior to Kazakhstan in major competitions, and I can say that our boxing is stronger than Kazakh boxing,” says Jalolov.

For information, at the U-22 Asian Championship held in Thailand, the Uzbek team competed for the victory in 10 weight categories in men’s events and won 9 gold and 1 silver medals.  This result of the boxers will affect the next IBA rating.

It should be recalled that earlier it was reported that the national boxing team of Uzbekistan is actively preparing for the world championships, which will be hosted by Tashkent.
