12823In a bid to minimize the environmental impact of car emissions, public representatives and environmental activists propose the initiation of a monthly "Car-Free Day" in Tashkent. The concept is outlined in a draft Presidential decree aligning with the "Uzbekistan-2030" strategy, specifically focusing on youth and business support.
As part of the initiative, executives and staff working in Tashkent's republican and regional executive buildings are tasked with leading by example. They are expected to commute to work using public transportation on one working day each month, contributing to the reduction of car traffic and exhaust emissions.
The Ministries of Ecology and Transport, along with the Tashkent City Government, bear the responsibility for ensuring the seamless, high-quality, and unwavering implementation of this measure.
It is worth noting that discussions on the proposed decree will continue until February 14 of the current year.
