Eco-stickers for cars will be issued starting next year

In Uzbekistan, the assessment of vehicles' compliance with regulatory standards and the issuance of environmental stickers will commence on March 1, 2025. This is outlined in the Cabinet of Ministers' decision dated July 3, 2024, No. 381.

This document introduced changes and additions to several government decisions to enhance the environmental situation in production.

To promote the effective use of renewable energy sources and advance the "Ecological Transport" system, the following actions are outlined:

• Removing the requirement to submit project documents for state environmental review for installing solar photovoltaic power stations on building roofs and facades.
• Initiating activities to create and develop "green zones" within industrial enterprises that impact the environment and their surrounding areas.
• Adjusting the timelines for the phased introduction of the ecological transport system.

The new start date for this system is March 1, 2025 (previously June 1, 2024). On this same date, the assessment of vehicle compliance with regulatory standards and the issuance of environmental stickers will begin.

It was previously reported in Tashkent that 518 vehicles were emitting harmful substances above the allowable limits. As a result, 303 drivers were fined a total of 50.1 million soums under the relevant articles of the Code of Administrative Responsibility, and the operation of 222 vehicles was temporarily halted.
