Asila Mirzayorova takes on new role advocating for disability rights (video)

Asila Mirzayorova, the Paralympic champion of Paris 2024, has been appointed as a special representative for the protection of the rights of persons with disabilities at the National Agency for Social Protection. This was announced by the agency’s press service.

According to the report, Mirzayorova's appointment was made official on October 22 during an event at the National Social Protection Agency.

"Another Paralympic champion has joined our agency family. We had intended to collaborate with Asila in Paris, and today, that intention has become a reality. Asila Mirzayorova is now a special representative of the agency. Welcome to the team, Asila! She is incredibly strong and intelligent, and she will work to protect the rights of people with disabilities. With champions like Diyora and Asila on board, I believe our team has grown stronger, and we will achieve new milestones together!" said Shahnoza Mirziyoyeva.

At the event, the Paralympic champion expressed her gratitude for the trust placed in her and shared her reasons for accepting the role.

"It is a great honor and responsibility to serve as a special representative for the protection of the rights of persons with disabilities. This role allows me to advocate for the rights of people with disabilities and help create equal opportunities for all. As a Paralympic athlete, I understand how to overcome physical and social barriers, and I firmly believe that everyone should be an equal member of society," said Mirzayorova.

She also expressed her excitement about collaborating with state and public organizations in her new role and contributing to the creation of an inclusive environment.

It is worth noting that Diyora Keldiyorova, a judo champion of the Paris 2024 Olympics, also serves as a special representative at the National Social Protection Agency, focusing on combating gender inequality and violence against children.

For background, Asila Mirzayorova was born in 1999 in Karshi. She is a silver medalist from the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games in para-athletics and a two-time World Championship winner.
