President Shavkat Mirziyoyev learned about the explosion in one of the warehouses of military weapons in the Syrdarya region.  Presidential Press Secretary Sherzod Asadov informed us about this today, 24 October.

"Such man-made incidents will be immediately reported to the President.  In this situation, the head of state was quickly informed, and a working group consisting of representatives of relevant organizations and agencies was sent to the scene by the President," Asadov said.

According to him, the working group was immediately involved in the analysis of casualties.  A special commission was formed under the leadership of Deputy Prime Minister Ochilboy Ramatov and Governor of the region Gofurjon Mirzayev, and work on quickly eliminating the consequences of the losses began.

Also, the press secretary clarified the expression of a single explosion, which raised questions among citizens.

“A single detonation is a detonation without any subsequent detonation.  The warehouse where the man-made incident took place was built in the 40s of the 20th century and according to technical regulations, large weapons were stored in such warehouses.  However, after 2016, all warehouses were being reconstructed.

Around all of them, small warehouses were being built according to world standards, and a small number of weapons were stored in them.  Engineering works are being carried out in all facilities based on the requirements set according to world standards.  As a result, even in the event of an explosion, the scattering of harmful objects was prevented as much as possible," he said.

The press secretary of the President said that the explosion in the Syrdarya region took place in one of these warehouses, and due to the observance of safety requirements, there were no major losses.

"The main damage was to the roofs and windows of the surrounding buildings.  That is, even if the buildings were partially damaged due to the blast wave, various bodies were prevented from scattering," Asadov said.

We remind you that on 22 October, an explosion occurred in the warehouse of a military unit in the Malik settlement of the Sirdarya region.  According to the Ministry of Health, 16 people were injured in the incident.  More than 3,000 residential buildings were also damaged.
