Man detained for offering bribe to traffic officer in Andijan (video)

A resident of the Pakhtabod district was detained while attempting to bribe a traffic police officer in Andijan. The incident occurred during a joint operation carried out by the Andijan Regional Department of the Main Directorate of Internal Affairs’ Personal Security Unit and the Rapid Search Service. This was reported by the regional Department of Internal Affairs.

According to the report, on May 14, a traffic police officer was on duty in the Altynkol district as per the assigned schedule. At around 11:00 a.m., a Damas vehicle without license plates was stopped for inspection. It was revealed that the driver lacked the necessary documents. An administrative report was filed under Article 135 of the Code of Administrative Responsibility, and the vehicle was impounded.

Later the same day, a citizen attempted to bribe the officer with 1 million sums in exchange for removing the vehicle from the penalty lot and destroying the administrative report.

A criminal case has been initiated under Part 1 of Article 211 of the Criminal Code for offering a bribe. Preliminary investigation procedures have been completed, and the case has been forwarded to the relevant judicial authorities.

It is worth noting that earlier, a traffic patrol inspector in the Fergana region was sentenced to two years in prison for accepting a bribe of 1.2 million sums.
