Authorities in the Fergana region have arrested a local man who was found cultivating over 55,000 poppy plants and more than 40 cannabis plants in his private garden, according to a report from the regional police department.

On April 28, the Fergana Regional Police Department, in collaboration with other agencies, conducted an operation in Dang‘ara district as part of the "Safe and Healthy Nation" initiative. During the raid, officials inspected the residence of a local man and discovered that he had been growing large quantities of poppy and cannabis on his property. Additionally, more than 600 grams of dried cannabis were found stored in his barn.

Following his arrest, the suspect admitted to his activities, stating:

"I was growing poppy and cannabis plants on my property. I deeply regret my actions and ask for forgiveness from my President and my people," he said.

Officials confirmed that the case is now under pre-trial investigation, with authorities conducting further inquiries into the matter.

Previously, in the Jizzakh region, a 51-year-old resident identified as D.S. was discovered growing 45 cannabis plants on a two-square-meter plot in his courtyard. Authorities took legal action against him following the discovery.
