6099In Uzbekistan, 250 officials at the national level have been assigned to support 1,000 of the most challenging neighborhoods. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev announced this today, September 11, during a video selector meeting on measures to reduce poverty in neighborhoods and elevate the system of working with poor families to a new level.
"There will only be results if district governors and sector leaders visit the homes of poor families and witness the conditions with their own eyes. No matter how much assistance we provide, if we do not improve neighborhood conditions, poverty will not decrease," said Mirziyoyev.
As a result, in 2025, $1.6 billion will be allocated from various sources for the development of neighborhood infrastructure. Of this, 1.2 trillion soums will be allocated for the installation of water pumps and solar panels in the 300 most challenging neighborhoods. An additional 2 trillion soums will be used to address electricity, roads, internet, and other infrastructure issues in the 500 most difficult neighborhoods.
To implement these tasks, 250 leaders, including ministers, deputies, advisers, and heads of departments, will be assigned to oversee the most challenging 1,000 districts. In addition, 2,000 regional leaders and 12,000 district leaders will each be responsible for supporting 5 families with the most difficult conditions.
We remind you that earlier, it was announced that conditions would be created for every poor family in Uzbekistan, particularly women, to access higher education. Shahnoza Mirziyoyeva, the First Deputy Director of the National Agency for Social Protection, has been tasked with organizing quality education for children from poor families in kindergartens, schools, technical schools, and universities, as well as coordinating their overall support.
