The Supreme Court of Uzbekistan has reviewed the case of seven citizens who were arrested for 15 days on charges of violating public order following the assassination attempt on Komil Allamjonov, the former head of the Information Policy Department of the Presidential Administration. The court has issued a final decision, as reported by Supreme Court spokesperson Aziz Obidov.

On February 21, the Supreme Court concluded the trial of the administrative offense case against B. Yakubov and six others, who had been accused of violating Article 183 (Petty Hooliganism) and Part 1 of Article 194 (Failure to Comply with the Lawful Requirements of an Internal Affairs Officer) of the Code of Administrative Responsibility. The case was reviewed as part of an investigative order.

According to the court’s ruling, due to insufficient evidence, the charges against B. Yakubov, S. Siddikov, A. Kurbanmuradov, A. Toshov, A. Salimov, J. Turgunov, and Kh. Zufarov were annulled. As a result, the administrative case was dismissed under Article 271, Paragraph 1, of the Code of Administrative Responsibility, which provides grounds for terminating administrative offense cases.

"The Ministry of Internal Affairs has been addressed with a private ruling against an Internal Affairs Department employee who failed to collect evidence supporting the allegations during the investigation. Additionally, the Qualification Board of Judges has been informed regarding the judges who overlooked the lack of evidence in the case," the Supreme Court spokesperson stated.

It should be recalled that on January 13, at 9:30 a.m., the Supreme Court announced that an open hearing would be held regarding the case of the seven citizens arrested in connection with the Allamjonov incident. However, the hearing was later postponed to January 23. Meanwhile, on October 26, 2024, lawyer Davronbek Saidov, who represents the seven individuals brought to administrative responsibility, stated that he had been working to protect Allamjonov's employees.
