Aliev arrived in Samarkand despite tension on the border with Armenia

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, on invitation to the meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, visited Uzbekistan.

Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov and other officials met the high-ranking guest at Samarkand International Airport.

Earlier, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said that he would not participate in the summit due to the armed conflict on the Azerbaijani-Armenian border.

It should be recalled that between 15-16 September, the 22nd meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization will be held under the chairmanship of the president of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

The SCO Summit will be attended by the heads of State and government of Russia, China, India, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Belarus, Iran, Mongolia, Turkey, Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan.

President of Mongolia Ukhnagiin Khurelschukh, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ebrahim Raisi, President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov, President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping, President of Tajikistan Imamali Rahmon, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, Russian President Vladimir Putin and the Prime Minister of Pakistan have already arrived in Samarkand.
