Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Chairman of the National Revival Democratic Party, Alisher Kadyrov, has urged Uzbek labor migrants currently in Russia to leave the country immediately. He wrote about this on his social media pages.
Emphasizing the words “believe me,” Kadyrov stated that the situation in Russia will only continue to worsen month by month.
“Russian security services are already viewing Central Asians as potential active participants in the unrest expected in Russia. Therefore, they have essentially abandoned any benefit they once derived from them,” Kadyrov said, referring to the killing of an Uzbek migrant in Russia allegedly as a result of violence by OMON riot police.
This is not the first time Alisher Kadyrov has called on Uzbek migrants in Russia to leave the country and refrain from traveling there in search of work. The lawmaker is among the few public figures who have openly condemned Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and strongly criticized the inhumane treatment of Uzbek migrants in the country. In a subsequent post, he again addressed migrants, urging them not to let the pursuit of income become the cause of their families’ tears.
“Use your reason and leave Russia as soon as possible! No income is worth the tears of your parents and children!” he wrote.
Uzbek migrant killed in Russia
Reports have emerged that a labor migrant from Samarkand died in Russia’s Khabarovsk city as a result of torture allegedly carried out by the Special Purpose Mobile Unit (OMON). Although the incident reportedly occurred on December 12, 2025, information about the case became public only on January 2, 2026.
According to available reports, special forces officers raided a café and used force against Uzbek nationals present at the scene. As a result, two individuals sustained severe injuries and fell into a coma. One of them died several days later. Information about the second victim has not been officially confirmed. The deceased’s body has not yet been returned to Uzbekistan.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan has issued an official statement through its spokesperson, Ahror Burkhanov. According to the ministry, the Consulate General is maintaining constant contact with the deceased’s relatives and is providing the necessary consular and practical assistance. Efforts are underway to repatriate the body.
In addition, diplomatic notes have been sent to the Khabarovsk Regional Prosecutor’s Office, the Investigative Directorate, and the territorial office of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs, requesting a comprehensive, impartial, and lawful investigation into the incident.
