Alisher Kadyrov, deputy of the Legislative Chamber of the Supreme Majlis and head of the “Milliy Tiklanish” Democratic Party faction, has proposed amending the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan to change the provision that grants lighter sentences to women. He shared his views on his Telegram channel.
Kadyrov cited a shocking case from December last year at the “Jajji Nihollar” private preschool in Tashkent, where a 28-year-old educator and a 68-year-old teacher tortured a 2-year-old child for three days, leading to the child’s death. The court sentenced the educator to 6.5 years in prison and the teacher to three years of restricted freedom.
“Six years in prison for a female educator who caused the death of a 2-year-old kindergarten child!
According to Article 50 of the Criminal Code, the criminal was given only two-thirds of the sentence simply because she is a woman. Please note that any woman, for any crime—even a dangerous repeat offender who intentionally commits murder multiple times—is sentenced to two-thirds of the standard punishment under this article,” Kadyrov emphasized.
He called this provision “humanity as an incentive to crime” and argued it may be contributing to the rise in female criminality.
The deputy announced plans to discuss this legal norm with specialists.
Additionally, Kadyrov suggested lowering the retirement age for those working in educational institutions to 50 and prohibiting pensioners from working directly with children.
“This is necessary for the safety of children and to bring modern approaches to education more quickly,” he said.
It is worth recalling that Kadyrov previously called for punishment for those who organized and permitted the beer festival in Tashkent.
