Six Uzbeks were detained during a raid related to illegal street racing and car stunts in Cincinnati, Ohio, in the United States. Local outlet WCPO reported this.
According to local media, the incident took place near Paycor Stadium shortly after midnight today, June 3. Stadium security contacted police after cars were seen racing and performing dangerous manoeuvres. Law enforcement officers who arrived at the scene detained six people. Court documents state that all of them are Uzbek nationals.
In particular, 28-year-old Temur Nurmatov is accused of organizing an illegal drag race and trespassing on private property. According to reports, he organized the street race in a gray Ford Mustang and performed burnouts, leaving tire marks on the asphalt. Cincinnati police’s drone unit reportedly monitored Nurmatov in the stadium area for nearly 30 minutes.
Court documents also state that five other people — 19-year-old Madina Esenova, 23-year-old Bekdillo Hamidullayev, 21-year-old Dilmurod Nurmatov, 28-year-old Ahmadjon Valiyev and 23-year-old Mumtozakhon Zaburova — are accused of trespassing on stadium property.
Police reportedly towed five vehicles from the scene. Tire marks from dangerous circular driving manoeuvres were also found near the stadium gate.
The incident also sparked discussion at the Cincinnati City Council. Just hours after the arrests, the city’s Public Safety and Quality of Life Committee unanimously approved an emergency ordinance aimed at combating illegal street racing.
Under the proposed new rules, people involved in illegal racing would face a fine of $1,250 for a first offence and $2,500 for repeated violations. Vehicles involved in such events could also be impounded for up to six months. City council members said street racing poses a serious threat to public safety and places a heavy burden on police resources. The emergency ordinance will now be considered by the full Cincinnati City Council. If adopted, it will take effect immediately.
Earlier, it was reported that a 26-year-old Uzbek citizen had been arrested in the US state of New Jersey on suspicion of domestic violence and weapons-related offences.
