Yesterday, on 17 January, the US ambassador to Uzbekistan, Jonathan Henik, presented 225 pieces of "FLIR" infrared monoculars to the border troops of the State Security Service of Uzbekistan.  Azam Obidov, press secretary of the American embassy in Tashkent, informed QALAMPIR.UZ about this.

This surveillance equipment was donated as part of a Fund for Nuclear Non-Proliferation and Disarmament, funded by the US State Department.  The equipment worth $600,000 is part of the US security assistance to Uzbekistan.  Colonel Bakhtiyor Mansurov received the equipment on behalf of the border troops.

"Today we are pleased to celebrate the next stage of our cooperation and we hope that this delivered surveillance equipment will increase the capabilities of border troops in protecting the state border of Uzbekistan and guarding the "green border."  "It also allows quick response to incidents at the border," the report said.

It is noted that the Fund for Nuclear Non-Proliferation and Disarmament, which was established in 1994, enables the US government to respond operationally to unexpected and complex situations in the field of non-proliferation and disarmament that require immediate decision-making.
