The Uzbek chess player competing in the World Championship in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, is maintaining an undefeated record. Gulruhbegim Tahirjonova, representing the American team, remains unbeaten after 4 rounds.

 

Tahirjonova secured victories against Ravi Rakshitta from India, Guldona Karimova from Uzbekistan, and Bella Khotenashvili from Georgia, while settling for a draw with Polina Shuvalova from Russia.

 

With 3.5 points, Tahirjonova currently holds the 4th position in the tournament standings. Notably, the 24-year-old is recognized as the top female chess player in the USA and was honored by the American Chess Federation as the best female player in August.

 

Tahirjonova had previously departed from the Uzbekistan national team due to conflicts with the Uzbekistan Chess Federation's leadership.
