The 246th anniversary of US independence is celebrated in Tashkent

Yesterday 14 June, in Tashkent the 246th anniversary of US independence and the 30th anniversary of the establishment of Uzbek-US diplomatic relations were celebrated.

The event, held at the Hyatt Regency Tashkent, was attended by heads of state bodies, activists of public organizations, ambassadors of foreign states, and representatives of the diplomatic corpus, as well as journalists.

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov, First Deputy Chairman of the Senate Sodik Safoev, First Deputy Speaker of the Oliy Majlis (Parliament) Akmal Saidov, Deputy Secretary of the Security Council for Foreign Policy and Security Issues Abdulaziz Kamilov, (acting) Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Norov, Deputy Prosecutor General Erkin Yuldashev, Director of the Anti-Corruption Agency Akmal Burkhanov took part in the meeting.

At the beginning of the official reception, Daniel Rosenblum spoke about the importance of the Declaration of Independence, adopted 246 years ago and still a guiding principle of the American government.

The Declaration which announced the independence of the United States from Great Britain was adopted by Congress on July 2, 1776, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Two days later, Congress approved the revised version of the document and ordered its release.  Therefore, US Independence Day is scheduled for July 4.
