The planned ban on the use of AI-80 gasoline in Uzbekistan has been postponed. This decision was outlined in President Shavkat Mirziyoyev's decree No. PQ-338, dated September 24, titled "On Priority Measures to Combat Dust Storms and Improve Air Quality."

Earlier this year, in January, President Mirziyoyev had directed Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov to address the complete phase-out of AI-80 gasoline (which meets the "Euro-2" standard) starting in 2025. However, the new decree now extends this deadline to 2028.

According to the presidential decree, beginning in 2030, the use of fuel oil in thermal power plants and thermal centers in and around Tashkent will also be prohibited.

The decision includes the following additional measures:

- Filters will be installed in coal-fired greenhouses located near the capital;

- By 2028, severe dust storms are to be reduced by 50% compared to current levels;

- The gradual restriction on fuels below the "Euro-4" standard will also be delayed until 2028;

- Starting in 2025, small monitoring stations will be installed in 12 districts of Tashkent, with air quality monitors and public boards to be introduced on streets by 2026;

- Between 2025 and 2030, a total of 441 hectares of "green belts" and "green parks" will be established in and around the capital.
