Peace in Afghanistan is a condition for security in the SCO – Norov

On 29 July, in his speech at the meeting of the council of Foreign Ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Vladimir Norov touched on the Afghan problem.  This was reported by the "Dunyo" agency.

According to Norov, the establishment of long-awaited peace and stability in Afghanistan is a strategic condition for ensuring security and stable development in the SCO area.

"Recently, the international conference on Afghanistan, which was held in Tashkent with the participation of high-ranking delegations, including the SCO countries, was the first forum in history where concrete proposals were made from the pulpit of the conference to bring this country out of a deep crisis.

The conference demonstrated the common interest in developing coordinated approaches to the post-conflict strategy for Afghanistan," - said Norov.

The minister added that the international community has reduced the level of criticism against the country's new government, giving priority to the promotion of Afghanistan's economic recovery.
