Professor and brother of Abdulla Oripov passes away

Abdurazzoq Oripov, the elder brother of Uzbekistan’s People’s Poet Abdulla Oripov, passed away on July 15. The Union of Writers of Uzbekistan announced the news.
According to the statement, the funeral prayer will be held tomorrow, July 16, at 8:00 a.m. at House 23, Yangi Tong Street, Samarqand Mahalla, Qarshi city.

For reference, Abdurazzoq Oripov was a professor in the Department of Crop Science and Fodder Production at the Samarkand State University of Veterinary Medicine, Animal Husbandry and Biotechnology. He was the brother of Abdulla Oripov, the Hero of Uzbekistan and People’s Poet of Uzbekistan.
Abdulla Oripov was one of the leading figures of Uzbek literature, renowned as a poet, translator and public figure. He is also widely known as the author of the lyrics of the National Anthem of the Republic of Uzbekistan. His works, including Munojot, Sohibqiron and Haj Daftari, hold a significant place in Uzbek literature.
Abdulla Oripov passed away on November 5, 2016, in Houston, United States, at the age of 75.
