The WBA has announced the next opponent for former world champion Murodjon Ahmadaliyev from Uzbekistan in the welterweight category of professional boxing. They have made a final decision on the matter.

Ahmadaliyev will face Japanese boxer Tomoki Kameda in an eliminator match. The winner of this fight will become a mandatory contender for the belt currently held by Marlon Tapales.

Matchroom, the company representing Ahmadaliyev, has sent an appeal to the organization requesting a rematch following his loss to Marlon Tapales in the spring. Tapales’ team has expressed their desire to participate in an absolute championship fight against the winner of Naoya Inoue and Stephen Fulton on July 25, competing for the WBC and WBO belts.

Considering this situation, if Tapales’ request is taken into account and his next fight is for the absolute championship, Ahmadaliyev will be two steps away from a rematch. However, if the situation is reversed, he will have the opportunity to regain the belts that were once his.

Let’s remind ourselves that during a professional boxing event held in San Antonio, USA, Uzbekistan’s Israil Madrimov emerged victorious, while Murodjon Ahmadaliyev, the holder of the WBA and IBF belts, suffered a loss against Marlon Tapales from the Philippines
