From August 8-19, a flood risk has been announced due to expected heavy rains in the mountainous and hilly areas of the Republic. Sherzod Habibullaev, Director of the Uzhydromet Agency, provided this information.

According to the announcement, floods may occur in the following areas:

  • Kashkadarya Region: Yakkabog, Dehkanabad, Chirakchi, Kitab, Shahrisabz, Kamashi, and Guzor districts
  • Samarkand Region: Urgut, Samarkand, Bulungur, Nurabad, Koshrabot, Kattakurgan, Payarik, Jomboy, and Ishtikhan districts
  • Jizzakh Region: Zomin, Bakhmal, Gallaorol, Sharof Rashidov, Forish, and Yangiabad districts
  • Tashkent Region: Ohangaron, Bustonliq, Parkent, Piskent, Urtachirchik, Yukarichirchik districts, and the cities of Angren and Almalik
  • Namangan Region: Pop, Kosonsoy, Chortoq, Chust, Namangan, and Yangikurgan districts
  • Fergana Region: Sokh, Shahimardan, Fergana, and Besharik districts
  • Andijan Region: Andijan, Asaka, Jalakuduq, Kurgantepa, Pakhtaabad, Izboskan, Khujaabad, Marhamat districts, and the city of Khanabad

"Citizens living in mountainous and hilly areas, vacationers, and drivers traveling in these regions are advised to take precautionary measures. There is a possibility of rainwater accumulation, which may lead to flooding in these areas," the report states.
