From now on, May 5 will be celebrated annually in Uzbekistan as the ’’Day of profession and labor.’’ This was stated in President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s resolution dated October 23, ’’On measures to implement reforms in the vocational education system.’’
According to the resolution, starting from 2026, May 5 will be widely celebrated each year as the Day of profession and labor. Within its framework, a series of events will be systematically organized to enhance the attractiveness of professions and promote vocational education, especially among the youth.
The document also defines several targeted indicators for reforming the vocational education system through 2030.
In particular:
- The number of technical schools implementing international and joint educational programs will be increased to 250;
- The coverage of 9th-grade graduates in vocational education will rise from 29% to 50%;
- The share of dual education in the vocational training system will increase from the current 9% to 40%;
- The number of teachers participating in professional development and internships abroad will grow from 100 to 2,500;
