During the current year, a total of 107 citizens have suffered injuries from food poisioning in 21 reported cases, resulting in the unfortunate deaths of two individuals.

These distressing statistics were shared during a press conference held at the Information and Mass Communications Agency, with the presence of officials and leaders from the Sanitary-Epidemiological Peace and Public Health Commitee.

It is important to note that in the span of 12 months in 2022, there were 65 reported cases of food poisioning, causing harm to 518 citizens.  Among the victims, 194 were children, and tragically, two children lost their lives due to the consumption of homemade canned goods.  This year, the number of cases has risen to 21, resulting in injuries to 107 individuals, including 22 children, and claiming the lives of two patients.

Furthermore, out of the food poisionings recorded since the beginning of 2023, 15 cases were attributed to botulism caused by the consumption of homemade canned goods, affecting 52 citizens, eight of whom were children.  Six additional cases were related to general food poisioning, affecting 55 citizens, including 11 children.

Moreover, there were two instances of food poisioning observed in public catering establishments, highlighting non compliance with the proper cooking procedures when preparing instant products. Over the last four months of 2023, more than 147,000 kilograms of substandard products were sold and subsequently destroyed in accordance with established protocols.

It is worth mentioning that the introduction of the "risk analysis" system, as outline in the September 13th 2022 decision by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, led to the issuance of an order by the Cabinet of Ministers on October 19th 2022.  This order focuses on the organization of state control over business entities by supervisory bodies and sets forth minimum requirements for the "risk analysis" systems of regulatory agencies, as approved by the decision titled "On additional measures."
