3092From January 28 to 31, a large-scale operational operation was carried out across Tashkent city, Tashkent, Kashkadarya, and Bukhara regions to halt the illegal importation and distribution of over 200,000 medicinal units. This initiative was reported by the State Security Service (SSS).
The operation uncovered a significant illicit drug trade. In the Uchtepa district of Tashkent city, authorities discovered a cargo vehicle carrying 42,777 units of medicines from 32 different types, all lacking the necessary documentation. The same day, a further investigation into an individual receiving the goods in Chirchik city led to the seizure of 72,540 units of 26 types of illegally stored medicines.
Through ongoing investigations, authorities traced the source of the drugs back to Guzar district in the Kashkadarya region, where an individual was arrested for smuggling the drugs into Tashkent region. Additionally, a housewife in Nurafshon city voluntarily handed over 11,150 units of five different types of drugs.
A further part of the operation extended to the Bukhara region, where 89,226 units of 35 types of medicines were discovered. These drugs, originally intended to pass through Uzbekistan, had been illegally offloaded into the country.
In total, the operation resulted in the seizure of 204,543 units of 93 different medicinal products, worth several billion soums. The authorities have initiated a criminal case, and further investigations are underway.
This operation follows earlier large-scale "Anti-terrorist cleanup" activities conducted across the country from January 27 to 31, which led to the detention of 169 individuals in criminal cases and 270 in administrative cases.
