Individuals who cut down 21 larch bushes were imprisoned for 2 years

Those who cut down 21 pine trees in the Syrdarya region were imprisoned. This was reported by the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection, and Climate Change.

It was noted that in December 2023 and January 2024, M.A. conspired with accomplices to illegally cut down and sell a total of 21 pine trees growing on the edge of his field.

A criminal case was initiated against them under Part 2 of Article 198 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan (damaging or destroying fields, forests, trees, or other plants).

The damage caused by cutting the trees amounted to 1 billion 459 million 144 thousand soums.

"By the court's decision, it was ordered to recover the damage caused to nature from the sale of the tree trunks. Additionally, each defendant was sentenced to 2 years in prison," the report stated.

It is worth noting that earlier in the Samarkand region, a construction company illegally cut down 31 rare trees.
