Several people who illegally registered IMEI codes on mobile devices in violation of the laws on personal identity were arrested. This was reported by the press service of the Cyber Security Center under the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

It is noted that several citizens conspired in advance and obtained copies of the passports of 175 people from different regions of the republic by various means of deception. Using them, they registered the IMEI code of phones illegally imported into the country.

A criminal case was initiated against them under Article 141-2, Part 2, Clauses "a" and "b" of the Criminal Code. An investigation is currently underway.

Also, the center called citizens to make them aware, with this message.

"Dear citizens, do not present your passport or any copy of it to strangers, remember that it can be used for malicious purposes."
