Mongolia plans to open an embassy in Uzbekistan this year.  This issue was discussed at the meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the two countries, Bakhtiyor Saidov and Battsetseg Batmunkh.  Acting Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov reported this on his Telegram page.

"We welcomed the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia Batmunkh Battsetseg in Tashkent and congratulated her on International Women's Day.  We welcome the decision to open an embassy of Mongolia in Uzbekistan.  In recent years, bilateral relations have shown a positive pace in all areas without exception," Saidov writes.

Earlier Batmunkh Battsetseg informed that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia is working on expanding multilateral cooperation, increasing the number of diplomatic missions and diplomats.  She also said that Mongolia intends to open an embassy in Uzbekistan in 2023.  Although the volume of passenger traffic between the two countries is small, Uzbekistan is defined as an important region for the expansion of economic and trade turnover.

"Uzbekistan has the largest population and territory in the region.  Trade and transport logistics are also well-developed.  By opening an embassy in Uzbekistan, Mongolia will increase the volume of trade with the countries of Central Asia," she said.
